Short Description
In this lesson, you will learn how to correctly transfer an icon sketch onto a gessoed board using a traditional tracing method with graphite or charcoal.
This stage is extremely important because it creates the foundation for the entire icon. You will learn how to properly fix the sketch, transfer the lines, work with facial proportions, and prepare the surface for the next stages of icon painting.
Take your time, work carefully, and enjoy the process.
⸻

Gessoed board (Levkas board)
Graphite or charcoal
Compressed charcoal or natural charcoal both work well
0.5 mm ballpoint pen
